December and January, the coolest months in Niger and other neighbouring Sahel countries, is also the time for several Tuareg festivals. The site of one such festival is Iferouane, a village situated 200 Km north of Agadez, in the rugged and remote Aïr Mountains. Iferouane is can only be reached by 4X4, or camel.
