Baniata is typical of many villages in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands in that it is physically divided between two Christian denominations - the SDA (Seventh Day Adventists) and CFC (Christian Fellowship Church). The SDA hold religious assembly on the Saturday, do not eat meat, and abstain from all forms of vice such as alcohol and betel nut chewing. Despite the village being split down the middle in terms of the housing arrangements, there is no other apparent segregation. Harmony reigns.
