One of the main aims of our visit to Lokuru was to help reinforce the message that ecotourism is a more sustainable management option for Tetepare; that in the long term it has much greater value than the broadscale harvesting of the island's timber resources. We spoke of Tetepare being a treasure not just for the Solomon Islands but for the world, and reiterated the truth that people from everywhere will come to study or simply marvel at its rich biological diversity and sheer pristine beauty.
